Who’s behind the rack
Built by someone who runs this stack at home before selling it at work.
TechPlayground started as a home lab — secondhand enterprise servers, a pile of drives, and a refusal to pay for software that open source already does well. That same discipline now runs client infrastructure: Proxmox instead of a VMware quote, TrueNAS instead of a SAN contract, monitoring that doesn’t bill per host.
If it has to survive a power flicker, a failed drive, and a 2am page, it gets tested on my own gear first — the write-ups on the lab notes page are the proof.
Client work follows the same principle: recommend what’s actually reliable and actually affordable, not whatever a vendor’s partner program pays out the most commission on.
