Our Organization

Tech Playground is a nonprofit devoted to discovering the technologist in everyone, through playful, fun implicit learning experiences at non-technical experiences such as sporting events, concerts, amusement parks and festivals. Tech Playground began in 2014 at Oakland Drops Beats in the Kids Corner where youth learned about the technology behind making music, and today covers almost all topics — from artificial intelligence, to coding, to using tech to improve your life with Life Model Design and technology to end violence through the Think, Don't Squeeze exhibit. Communities are enabled to independently run Tech Playground experiences using "Tech Playground in a Box" to help spread tech awareness in communities around the world.

Our Mission: Discover  Technologist

Tech Playground is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek to live a better life and create a better world. We believe passionately in the power of everyday people to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world when augmented with technology. On, we're building a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world's most inspired people — and a community of inspired souls to engage with technology and each other, both online and at Tech Playground events around the world, all year long.

In fact, everything we do — from our blogs to our Swing Talks to the projects sparked by the Tech Playground Prize, from the global Tech Playground community to the Tech Playground lesson series — is driven by this goal: How can we best show regular people that they are already in fact, technologist?

Tech Playground is owned by a nonprofit, nonpartisan foundation. Our mission is to make show people that they are technologists through implicit learning, make great tech accessible in non-technical spaces, and spark conversation about S²TEAM.
